So I've decided to overhaul my website; New Year, New Me and all that good stuff!
I picked up my DSLR in 2012 and didn't really know what I wanted to shoot ... so I shot everything! Portraits, Architecture, Street Art, Events, Landscapes; You name it, I took a photo of it. After a short time, I realised that architectural interiors aren't exactly bursting with charisma and I was naturally drawn to working with people. After my first fashion photoshoot I had caught the bug, and dreamt of shooting for the likes of Prada, Hugo Boss and Victoria's Secret!
So at every opportunity I shot beautiful people in beautiful clothes and was quick to post my favourite images. The problem was that I didn't really pay much attention to the way I was releasing my images out into the world. Shooting and posting, shooting and posting for two whole years. It was however over this festive period that I decided to take a break and review my website and social media. It was clear to me that if I wanted to take my photography career to the next level, I needed to curate my 'brand' it a much better way.
I studied my work in great detail and from a pragmatic standpoint. I had to let my head rule my heart and remove some of my earlier work which is simply not up to par; The result is a portfolio which I'm really proud of. I have worked with some extraordinary people and I'm extremely excited to see what the future has in store.
As an overview, here's what Gareth Davies Photography 2.0 looks like:
WEBSITE - garethdaviesphotography.co.uk
My website will be my home; Everything will extend from it and I will be posting my new work here first. Furthermore, I plan to really ramp up my blog. Obviously there will be a lot of fashion related posts, but my other passion is movies and I plan on including a lot of commentary surrounding films. I'm generally known as a photographer, but I will be expanding my content to include videography to provide a more encompassing media experience. The next Steven Spielberg, who knows?!

In terms of my social media presence, I have also decided to shake things up there too. I completely wiped my Instagram account to start again on the 1st January. A bold move some might argue, but I really wanted to start afresh and really make a conscious effort to create a beautiful feed. My posting schedule will revolve around fashion posts on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesdays, I'll be posting Inspirational Quotes from a mentor or leading figure, coupled with some of my best Street Photography images. On a Thursday, I'll be sharing some of my favourite work from other creatives as I truly believe that there is so much talent out there that needs to be appreciated by a wider audience. Finally, the weekend will be a free-for-all to whatever is rattling around my head at that time!
FACEBOOK - GarethDaviesPhotography
I will be sharing a lot more of my portfolio images on my Facebook account and I would really appreciate a like on my page so that you can stay up to date with my growing body of work. If you're a brand, model, make up artist, hair stylist, etc. and would like to work with me on a future project, drop me a Facebook message and we can organise something awesome!
TWITTER - @gdaviesphotos
I see my Twitter account as a means to engage in conversations with my followers. I will also be posting my very favourite portfolio images, but also more behind-the-scenes and everyday photos. So take this as a very real warning ... you're likely to see my ugly mug if you follow me!
YOUTUBE - TBC
2017 is going to be the year when I launch my own YouTube channel. I plan on it being a video version of my blog, but with even more content. I will reveal more in the future, so watch this space!
I hope this post has provided a fitting introduction to me, my work and plan going forward. I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the last four years, and offer a huge welcome to all you newbies who have only just discovered me.
